Children’s Creations

Posted on March 4, 2016   |

The past couple of weeks children have been busy making elaborate creations with paint, clay, blocks, melted crayons and light. We can’t wait to take these artists to the High Museum next week!

Paint…

Children have been using paint with balls down ramps, with hands and painting murals.

“I know all the steps!” Olivia can make the flowers on her own!

Clay…

Courtney, Dante’s mom, came to share about Chile. She brought a fossil that she found called an ammonite. The children were so inspired and began creating ammonites all over the classroom through drawings, blocks and clay. They used a picture to guide them on how to make the ammonite with clay. This inspired the children to use an Eric Carle book to create animals too.

Tennyson noticed an ammonite has ten legs while an octopus has eight.

Blocks…

Each day children create elaborate buildings with blocks.

Light…

The children were excited that we got the light table fixed. They have been using it to create some interesting patterns and pictures from their imagination.

“Those are snakes. That’s a lion, there’s a dinosaur and those are fish.” -Jeremiah

Melting Crayons…

I hope you’re planning on going to the auction because we created an awesome painting using our favorite melted crayon technique that you will want to bid on! We began practicing by making a rainbow. Then we used the beautiful paper flowers from the paper we used for the ball painting to add to our melted crayon stems.

Tennyson tells Emyrsen, “The crayons are crying.”
Bo helps to create a pattern for the stems.

News…

Have your children mentioned our wonderful student teacher, Ms. Marjorie? She has been joining us each Friday for the past month. She is a student at Piedmont Technical College studying Early Childhood Education. Soon she will attend Georgia State to pursue an degree in Psychology. If you see her feel free to introduce yourself!

Thanks to all the parents who have been our mystery reader! You’re awesome!

We are thrilled for our field trip next Wednesday. Volunteers can be here at 8:45. We will walk to MARTA at 9AM. Next Monday and Tuesday we will be talking to the children about agreements, safety and what to expect on the trip. Have a great weekend!
