Scope Perspective

Posted on March 10, 2017   |   Category: Pre-K Blog   |   Print this page

It’s been all about scopes these last two of weeks. Last Friday, Joseph and his mom Molly brought Joseph’s microscope.

Children continued designing and making their own scopes using toilet paper and paper towel tubes. (Thanks for all the donations! Keep ’em coming!) Friends got very creative!

“This is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen!” -Everett

Rob and I (Julia) wanted to see what the children see through their scopes. We decided to make a book reflecting friend’s perspective. On Monday, a small group of friends wanted to bring their scopes to the big playground.

“I see Mr. Jermaine!” -Thais
“It’s the other playground!”

The next day friends discovered a white, sheer piece of fabric hanging on the fence. After running under it, friends brought the scopes under to see what the world looked like.

“We saw through the whiteness.” -Casandra
“We saw Cassie’s pictures and she was all foggy. I saw me and I looked strange.” -Sam
“We saw our faces foggy.” Hazel reflects on seeing Cassie through her scope.

On Wednesday used their scope to look at their environment close up, just as they did the microscope. Billy used his scope to spy the doggy daycare center.

“Look at the little plant! It’s a plant growing!” -Evan
“I see the little plants here!” -Khaleesi
“Look Ms. Julia! It’s the dog place.” -Billy
Samantha looked through her scope at the mirror. “It looks like you’re falling but you’re not actually falling. The mirror looks like you’re falling.” -Samantha

Next week we will prepare for our mail field trip and return to our scope book later in the week. Stay tuned!
