This week was filled with special event for the children and the families.
Monday evening had a great turnout for our family night, with presentations from Teresa and Brandi followed by some quality time in the classroom. We explored provocations, made some paper, and discussed what we have been doing in the classroom and how we hope the year will continue.
Thank you to all the families who could make it out! We appreciated your eagerness to get your hands wet, as well as your feedback.
The beginning of the week was shadowed by the rain clouds, but that didn’t stop our crew of puddle jumpers! The rain and mud was an excellent sensory experience
When the rain got too heavy, we came inside for some music and movement. Ms. Daphne led a number of songs that had every child up and dancing! We went on bear hunts, danced with each part of our body, and even hokey pokeyed!
The children’s interest in imaginative dramatic play continued this week. The favorite for the class has been “snakes on the playground.” We practice gentle hands by using our hands as snakes who give gentle smooches, instead of bites, and chase each other around the playground.
“Can the snake get us? ….. Ahhhhhh, he’s coming, run!”
Today, our play took on a story-like nature. A flipped over bench become a boat that sailed into a storm. The storm wrecked the boat and we had to keep swimming from house to house. We escaped the witch, used pixie dust to fly, and even fixed the boat afterwards. See the coming daily page for more!
One last highlight of the week was Fall Fun Day! With the whole school in costume, we explored different stations outside. We fished for apples, decorated pumpkins, squished some creepy spaghetti, had our faces painted, and made nature crowns. It was an outdoor blast and we loved all the costumes!
