This week has been such a exciting week in the twos class! Though we were a day short, we accomplished much and had lots of fun!
Cooking
We’ve been exploring lentils in all forms. We dumped, poured, measure stirred, cooked and tasted them all throughout the week!
When cooking, our friends put forth a different vibe altogether. They become calmer and emit pure collaboration, creativity, and focus.
Its beautiful watching them use their imagination to turn everyday material into delicious meals!
The act of cooking also promotes imaginative play and good manners. We notice our friends sharing more often and being more patient with the materials they’re working with.
We’ve seen them come very close to eating pretend food (sand) and hesitate to try real food (beets).
Our Planting Venture
Ever since Mr. Louis added a dirt sensory bin on the playground, or friends have been very interested in playing with dirt. They love to pour and dig but most importantly, they love to give care. After much digging and dumping, we planted our little individual seeds of carrots radishes, lettuce and set out to watch them grow.
Some friends are into getting their hands dirty, strictly playing with the dirt and not interested in the plants at all. Other friends like to observe their plants, water and care for them, and watch them grow. Both is perfectly fine when gardening with our friends. However they like to have fun, is it the way we’ll have fun!
Relationships
A beautiful pow wow captured by Ms. Susie showing the boys having so much fun with their bikes. Ethan and Theo are so insinct while playing.
They are Doing donuts and popping wheelies! Stella’s face in the background says it all. Overall, their energy was contagious to all the friends around.
The bikes are special because there are only two of them. Our friends always find new ways to have fun with them!
Bonding moments throughout the week. Some are recently developed friendship while others show great collaboration, a sibling bond or just pure joy. These pictures are worth a thousand words and couldn’t be skipped! enjoy!
Still into bugs!
We are still very insterested in insects, even though we’re following other threads, We love to find bugs on the playground. We observe pictures, read books and love to paint bugs our favorite insects.
Thank Yous and Reminders
Thank you so much parents for purchasing books for our class library! We are such a spoiled class and it is because of you lovely parents! As always feel free to ask questions, tell us about your children’s home life and interests, bring in cool stuff, or stay and visit for awhile, read a book. We appreciate everything that you do for our class, always.
Next week we will be focusing on cooking, but focusing more on pouring, dumping, measuring, mixing and smelling rather than tasting and making. Our materials will include potatoes, flour, bean sprouts, gak, and spices.
* wipes are due at the beginning of the month
* don’t forget to check cubbies daily and take home sheets and blankets over the weekend
* plastic bags are always appreciated
Have an amazing weekend!
