The Willow Pre-K Class is a vibrant 4-year-old tuition-based class, which follows our Reggio Emilia philosophies and our research-supported beliefs and values regarding how children learn. The class is comprised of a maximum 18 children with 2 teachers. In a hands-on play and project based environment, the curriculum is a continuation our student centered approach inspired by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia. The work of the classroom community emerges organically and is immersed in inquiry, problem solving, critical thinking. The work of the group and individual children is documented through the lens of developmentally appropriate growth and learning. The class has abundant opportunities for creative and spontaneous learning encounters and in depth exploration. Educators introduce challenging provocations and questions to engage critical thinking and problem solving. Children will be encouraged to share their ideas and create hypothesis with which to experiment.
The Willow Pre-k is also be supported by the Atelierista (studio teacher) and the Music Teacher. Experiences in the studio may be independent of classroom work or connected to ongoing project work. The Atelierista will collaborate with the classroom educators to create continuity of learning as well as plan, research, observe and document children’s work. The Music teacher provides weekly music class and also works with children and teachers to incorporate music into the daily life of the students.
The Willow Pre-K class follows the Willow School calendar.
