When I grow up..

September 29, 2016

The Preschool Class explored various Careers this week, beginning with a visit from David’s mom, Sheri.

Sheri shared some architectural drawing with the children during afternoon snack. She also donated two very nice hard hats. The children love to construct and demolish “really tall towers,” and now they have the proper protection for their important work!

Thank you so much, Sheri, for your time and donations! The children loved the experience, and they reference it daily!

Here, Sheri shows the preschoolers a place she helped build!

Preschool friends enjoyed asking questions, and comparing drawings.

Together, we made our very own house! Look at that silly cat on the front stairs!

We continued our gardening discussions throughout the week.

Mr. Jermaine brought in some food that was donated to him from refugees! After we talked about the food, the children decided they wanted to use their avocado to make guacamole! The children listed the ingredients, and we asked Ms. Sheree (our Nutritionalist) to come in and help!

Above, Jacob chants,

“You can do it! You can do it!”

as Ms. Sheree struggles to get the stubborn pit out of the avocado meat! It finally popped out and the children cheered!

We all watched intently as each ingredient was chopped, then mixed together. We named them all together!

Each child enjoyed some crackers with their guacamole and some breakfast burritos for morning snack!

There was a grocery bag of fabric donated by Reed’s momma, Leah! The children loved making dresses with long trains. sweaters, scarves, super-hero-capes, and baby blankets! Thanks for the donation, Leah!

Fabric Parade!

Reed takes a break after some dancing around the room, and extravagant ballet moves to ponder what he will do next.

Reed climbs up to the constriction site with Jack. Jack is a good friend, and holds his dress while he climbs up, then back down the stairs.

“Don’t slip, Reed. Be careful.” Jack B warned.

Jacob uses “cutters” to cut the ballet teacher’s hair (Arianna), and Maddie’s hair (the ballerina).

Reed comes over to the building platform ballet stage to show us some ballet poses.

“Watch this!” Reed exclaimed.

More ballet moves!

“Really tall towers”

img_9206

“We’re building a really tall tower!” friends shrieked.

Each block placed on top was nerve-wracking for our friends who delicately put one block at a time on top of their tower.

img_9211

Alexander measures the height with his hands, while Logan cheers that the last block placed on top left the structure standing! Jacob is attempting to put “just one more” on top.

img_9209

“We did it!” Felix shouted!

“That’s what I’m talking’ bout!” Logan replied.

img_9217This was the tallest the tower could reach, before plummeting to the ground with a poke from someone’s toy shark!

Building our house.
img_9227

Preschool friends helped create a house with a sidewalk. Jack R begins to build a “bed” (lower right) for sleeping. Lila works on creating a “door” at the end of the walkway.

Above, Rose finishes the “bed” (top) while Jack R completes the “couch” (bottom).

I spy…..

Lila carefully places her “I Spy” matches together.

Rose completes her fourth match and carefully places the puzzle pieces together.

“I got thee match!” Alexander shouted!
