Underwater Tea Party Prep

Posted on May 13, 2016   |   Category: Preschool Blog   |   Print this page

This week in preschool class we discussed table manners and practiced serving tea.  We made agreements about how one should conduct themselves in a restaurant or specifically a tea house.  The children agreed that when in a public place everyone should wait at the table until each person has finished their food or drink.  Sam offered, ” you can say no thank you or yes please” but we all agreed that one should not shout “I don’t like it!”  Many friends have been munching on the mint and cilantro we have grown outside of the preschool class window.  We plan to make fresh mint tea next week.  This week we also made placemats for the tea table and next week we plan to make napkins and napkin rings for a proper tea time place setting.

Besides talking about having tea at Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party, we also decorated the preschool cafe similar to this cool teahouse.  The children had a wonderful time painting with watercolor and glitter glue on a lampshade.  “I want to add some feathers” –   Ms. Brandi joined preschool this week to help with the ribbon and stick art piece that also adorns the preschool cafe.  Thank you Ms. Brandi for the delicious tea biscuits!

Calling all Parents: Please bring in a branch from a tree around your home.  We are looking for fairly thick branches to re-due the Giving Tree in our classroom.  We will use magnolia leaves painted with bright colors to hang from these painted branches.  Please send your child in with a branch this Monday.

Field Trip:  Tuesday, May 17th 9:00-1:00

The children are so excited to visit Dr. Bombay’s Underwater Tea Party.  Please feel free to send your child with some walking around money so that they can buy a treat.  Willow School will pay for tea and provide a packed school lunch and snack.  We’re guessing your children will want to get something more at Dr. Bombay’s. We have 5 parent/grandparent volunteers so far but we would love more chaperones to participate.
