“It’s my first day at preschool!”
echoed throughout the classroom Monday morning as friends acquainted themselves with their new friends, and were reunited with their “old friends.”
This week we focused on getting to know all the children. We talked about our likes and dislikes, our families, favorite stories, and favorite things to do. The first common interest of the group was
“Playing games outside.”
So, we ventured out and played some games with Mr. Jermaine, as Ms. Loren snapped our pictures!
“Come on friends! Follow me!” Mr. Jermaine sang, as he started up the cement hill. All of the friends that were lined up on the gate at the bottom of the playground took off! Some friends had toys, some held hands, and some laughed all the way to the top of the sidewalk. Next game: race against your friends.
Mr. Jermaine expressed to the friends to wait for Ms. Loren to say:
“On your mark, get set, GO!”
..before she was able to finish, one eager friend took off.
The picture says it all, as friends tried their best to catch up the Jack R!
“Mr. Jermaine, Look!” shouted Jack S in reference to the race that started without him.
Early in the week we spent time naming our blue beta fish.
The classroom vote was a landslide:
Banana Split,
Welcome to Preschool, little fishy!
We learned some new good morning songs, read building/construction books brought in from this month’s “Library Mom” (Thanks Jennifer!), and learned about “beautiful things:”
“My Mommy, ” said Jack R.
“Dresses,” Rose said with a smile.
“The museum with Mommy & Daddy,” exclaimed Holden.
“The trees,” Alexander said, reaching his head as if he were looking at the leaves above him.
Friends said really BEAUTIFUL things.
We also talked about insects and some animals
(woodpeckers, crickets, cicadas, owls & beetles, specifically)
After studying the above said creatures, we took a class vote on what we want to be called, or identify with, as a class, AND
drumroll please…..
IT WAS A TIE!
Stay tuned next week with Preschool, as we further our exploration of watercolor, learn about clay, and work on some extravagant building, which will be saving with our “saving cards,” of course!
Enjoy your weekend!
