Small Groups and Chicken Bridges

Posted on September 26, 2016   |   Category: Pre-K Blog   |   Print this page

Chicken Bridge:

Last week friends who were at the Willow School last year were telling new friends about the chickens we visited at Camp Scene which is a few fences over from the playground. Since the fences were built from the new school next door, we haven’t been able to visit them yet. The prospects of meeting the chickens at the Wylde Center this week have the children excited! Children began planning a way to build a chicken bridges from our playground, across the fences to the Camp Scene afterschool program. This inspired stories about chickens. We read the book “Millie’s Chickens” and discovered chickens can have many colored eggs.

Small Groups:

We began small groups this week. We include 3 small, focused groups each day including one teacher directed group and two independent group. This is a time to focus on specific learning and threads we are working on in the PreK classroom.
