Cicada Week

Posted on August 19, 2016   |   Category: Pre-K Blog   |   Print this page

On Monday, August brought in a cicada nymph shell to share with his friends.  As we went to the playground for the morning Everett and Asher discovered a living cicada by the front doors of the school.  They gathered magnifying glasses to examine it more closely.  After the cicada discovery, friends wanted to explore the playground for “bugs they’ve never seen before.”

August brought in a cicada shell earlier that morning. When Everett and Asher found the cicada they wanted to show August they found a cicada by the door.
Benny was interested in looking at the cicada as well.
Friends were discussing where to look to find bugs they’ve never seen before.
Friends looked in the play house to find bugs they’d never seen before.
Friends were shouting “Cicada” down the storm drain.
Asher wanted to look in the tree to find bugs he’s never seen before.
“When you look in it (the magnifying glass) with two eyes you see two cicadas!”
