Older Infants:
This week the older infants explored light and shadows! We used our newly built light and shadow studio to project images of the children and cut out objects. They loved exploring their friends faces and even their own by pointing to facial features. Ms. Erika and Ms. Myesha also made animals with their fingers and hands that appeared as shadows on the wall. The infants were introduced to flashlights this week as well. They followed the lights on butcher paper and the floor. Some even found it on their face and hands. Finally, we used the light table to explore Playdough on top of the same transparencies. The infants are enjoying incorporating light and shadows into fun activities. The infants built a box fort and used flashlights to shine through the holes and on each other.Next week we will continue our light and shadows thread with water and ice. We w be projecting precipitation, climates and scenery – we’re excited to share our observations with you soon!
Younger Infants:
This younger infants have been exploring paper this week. We have been doing different activities with paper. They enjoyed painting paper with water. The infants explored the different types and textures of paper. The shiny gift wrap was a class favorite. We made a beautiful abstract collage of all the the paper we explored this week.
